Swung by the new Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA) on Queen West today for their official opening. I was a bit surprised how small the space is. It's maybe twice the size - if that - of the neighbouring Edward Day gallery. There are two rooms. One houses the permanent collection and the larger one is for the temporary exhibitions, currently Bill Burns' amusing Safety Gear for Small Animals.

It was a fun time. They drew a decent crowd and served up some free wine and beer. Didn't see too many people fork over the $35 they were asking for MOCCA t-shirts. Oh, and the art? I liked Burns' series How to Help Animals Escape from Natural History as well as the black and white prints How to Help Animals Escape from Degraded Habitats. The exhibition is on until Feb 20th.
