Fight Club Author Visits Toronto

The first step - especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money - the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art. - Chuck Palahniuk

Most people just know Chuck Palahniuk as the author of Fight Club. But avid readers recognize Chuck as an extremely prolific social commentator, full of witty sarcasm and bite. He's got the English language roped like a hapless calf, his true strength emerging in first person narrative. And he's coming to Toronto!

Chuck Palahniuk will be making a rare appearance at Indigo Books & Music (Yonge & Eglinton) this Wednesday at 7pm. Fans can expect signings of his latest novel Haunted, as well as readings and prize giveaways.

Haunted is "twenty-three of the most horrifying, hilarious, mind-blowing, stomach-churning tales you'll ever encounter-sometimes all at once". Book lovers beware, it's been said that over thirty-five people have fainted during a reading of "Guts", one of the most graphic stories in the Haunted anthology.

By combining Minimalist writing with bizarre characters in strange situations, Chuck focuses on the power of words to evoke emotion and deliver strong impact. For more info on his novel or to read an excerpt, check out the publisher's site.
