The Hotfoot Podcast: A little something something

Afrobeat fans, and well, anyone who just wants to get their groove on..tonight is your night. If the Femi Kuti concert isn't within monetary means, or if you want to support some tremendous local talent, check out Mr. Something Something at the College Street Bar (between Manning and Clinton). I believe the first set begins at 10.

I encountered the band a few months ago, when they paraded past my window seat at Cafe Diplomatico. Turns out they start each show with an enticing musical stroll. Bait taken. I quickly abandoned my latte and dreams of a good night's rest for a few hours of ecstatic dancing.

Post-show, I had an amusing conversation with Johan Ivar, the band's inscrutable singer and born again dancer.

*Apologies for the less than wonderful audio quality on the interview.

If you miss Mr. Something Something tonight, you can check them out next month on August 11, same time, same place.
