Toronto, Meet The Boondocks

Are Toronto airwaves ready for The Boondocks?

The controversial cartoon is the latest Adult Swim import to enter the Great White North. For the uninitiated, the popular anime-style show is based on a syndicated comic strip by Aaron McGruder about two black kids (one a gangsta-wannabe, the other a Black Panther-type militant) living life in an all-white suburb. Hilarity (along with profanity and copious usage of the "n-word") ensues. The show has a huge following and was recently renewed for a second season. I've (ahem) already managed to watch the show (via the "magic" of the Internet) and it's got its moments. The show satirically skewers race, sexuality, hip hop -- basically everything is fair game. The show has gotten mucho flak, particularly for the n-bombs.

So the question is, how will Teletoon edit it? How will Toronto viewers react? The original version bleeps out the usual four-letter suspects but, interestingly enough, leaves the n-word intact. I've sent an email to Teletoon and I'm waiting to hear back. Stay tuned...
