With the arrival of May comes the much-anticipated Deep Wireless Festival of Radio & Transmission Art. The sound art festival, now in its 5th year, kicks off today with public installations and a live performance by Negativland at the Drake tonight. Events will continue to the end of the month.

A great international sound mix with Indian percussionist and sound artist Debashis Sinha along with world musician Ben Grossman in a set that uses the radio as a sound source and mixed with various percussion instruments to create ambient music. Also, Kathy Kennedy will perform a solo set of electroacoustic vocal compositions.

Closing Night Show -- All Request Redirect Band, May 28th
Show at 8pm (doors open at 7:30pm) at Ryerson Student Centre (Alumni Room), $10/$8 (free for conference registrants)
This one should be great fun as John Oswald and Mark Gunderson plan to bring together a "band" of Toronto celebrities from all walks of life (politics, food, literature, music, etc). The band will take musical requests from the audience and throw these into "a sound mix rich in discussion and debate" (live-to-air).
