October 26th-This Week in the Gallery Space:

A plethora of happenings are going on this week in Toronto as per usual.

Now it may seem odd that I have included a war memorial artwork in the Gallery Space, especially one that was erected in London, U.K. by British artist, Paul Day. There is a Toronto connection, however, for sure. The Gardiner Museum is currently showcasing two life size terracotta models, eight meters long each, in Paul Day: Battle of Britain Terracottas and other work, an exhibition curated by Anne McPherson. Open daily 10 am-6 pm and Fridays 10 am-9 pm, the exhibition runs until Jan 15, 2007.

Tonight, Annie MacDonell explores the connection between Vaudeville, silent-era cinema, "other deposed forms of popular entertainment" and contemporary imagery in The Castle and other works. Opening reception is tonight, Oct 26, 7-9 pm @ Gallery TPW's new location 56 Ossington Ave. Tues-Sat 12-5 pm until Nov 25.

Tomorrow night, Friday, Oct. 27, from 7-10 pm, there is an opening party for Fashion Phantom, works by Robyn Waffle. Runs until Nov 12 @ M-One-11, 561 Queen St. W.

The hauntingly beautiful paintings of Toronto artist Andrea Maguire opens with Mythos this Saturday, the 28, 2-5 pm. Runs Oct 28 - Nov 22 @ the Muse Gallery 1230 Yonge St.

Elsha Leventis's Eyescapes, landscapes of the eye expressed in oils and alkyds on Mylar, opens this Sat, Oct 28 1-5 pm @ RedEye Studio Gallery, Distillery Historic District, 55 Mill Street, Case Goods Warehouse, Studio 102. Open Wed-Sat 11-6 pm until November 5.

Also this Saturday, between 2-5 pm, Botto & Bruno investigate the desires and rebellions of youth in global suburbia in The Fall, an exhibition of video installations, photography and drawings. Their work has been shown internationally and at the 49th Venice Biennale. Pari Nadimi Gallery, 254 Niagara Street, Tues-Sat 11-5 pm.

And I have just heard late breaking news (five minutes ago) that artist Joey Skaggs will be giving a performance lecture at OCAD today, Thursday October 26, 3:15pm, room 327, only seconds before I posted the blog. Sometimes it's good to get a late start.
