Starting today, Raincoast begins a sweet contest on their blog in conjunction with the Worst Case Scenario books.

Submit a short video of a Worst-Case Scenario surivial tip and you could win a 500$ shopping spree in participating bookstores. If you don't get the big prize, you could also receive weekly book and gift prizes.

Wednesday, Pen Canada and the Draft reading series presents Draft 2.2, marking the International PEN's day of the Imprisoned Writer. Readings from Emma Beltrån, Petronila Cleto, Jackleen Hanna, Ania Szado and Sheng Xue. The 5$ admission includes the latest issue of DRAFT. At the Artists' Play Studio Theatre (290 Carlaw). This weekend (17-19), the Toronto Women's Bookstore and U of T host a conference called Written in Colour for new and emerging writers/storytellers of colour or indiginous background. There's a kick-off concert Friday at the bookstore. Check it out. Sliding scale, preregister at the TWB.

Sunday, Tanya Chapman (author of King) joins Ryan Arnold (of The Coward Files) and author and highly-sought illustrator Jillian Tamaki (Gilded Lillies). In The Cameron House's back room, starting at 8:00 p.m.
