Nov 30th - This Week in the Gallery Space:

For the gift-giver striving to be unique this holiday season, wrapping up a great piece of original artwork is the perfect way to go. Galleries around town agree, some making it even easier on the shopper by hosing holiday sales.

A few not to be missed out on this week:

Magic Pony Gallery (694 Queen St W) cracks open the advent calendar on December 1st (that's tomorrow!) with Give A Little, a exhibit and sale of cute and wonderfully unique gifts. Nearly 40 artists are involved in the show. Media range from Paintings and photography to toys, t-shirts and sculptures. Opening reception is from 7-9pm and the show runs until Christmas Eve.

Open Studio (401 Richmond St W, Suite #104) is also showing off their best prints with an open house and sale. Opening night is tonight (Nov 30) from 6-9pm and features original artists' proof prints -- screenprints, etchings, lithographs and relief prints. Prices range from $50-$300.

Pssst.. tonight also features food and printmaking demos by Matt Crookshank and Ehryn Torrell.

Also at 401 Richmond, Gallery 44 (Suite #120) is gearing up for a big holiday sale (and party!). Opening on December 7th, Wall to Wall: From Our Walls to Yours features over 100 photographic works by Toronto artists, all priced between $5 - $500.

The event will raise funds for Gallery 44's programs and is part of the larger Holiday Marketplace event happening at 401 Richmond (more on that in a sec).

For the best selection, you'll want to swing by the opening reception between 6-10pm on the 7th. The sale will continue daily until December 16th.

Now, as for that Holiday Marketplace at 401 Richmond... the event kicks off on December 7th with most studios in the building (like Gallery 44 mentioned above) participating. In a nutshell, that means over 30 studios - under one roof - will open to the public!
