Get ready to paint the town Red. The RED Festival, a four-day festival of live performance including dance, theatre, puppetry, visual art, music, performance art, comedy, and film, kicks off next Sunday, April 15, bringing together over 50 acts and 100 performers in a celebration of art in Toronto.

Lisa Pijuan-Nomura, who has curated several arts events in the city including Speak and the bimonthly RED series, first introduced the RED Festival in 2004. This year's event will be the second installment of the festival, and takes place at the Lula Lounge.

A few highlights from this year's festival include:

El Mundo Rouge: A Program of Canadian Artists from around the world featuring Romina DiGasparro (Opera), Bageshree Vaze (Classical Indian Dance), La Moroch a (Flamenco), and Amelie Lefebvre (Chanteuse).

She Wore RED: An exciting mix of women performers featuring Meagan O'Shea (Dance Theatre), Kate Fenton (Physical Theatre and Mask), Sandra Battaglini (Comedy), Karen Ricardson (Spoken Word) and Roula Said (Belly Dance).

Puppet Cabarnet: A showcase of Ontario's finest puppeteers featuring Laura Heit, Clea Minaker, David Powell (Puppetmongers), and Clay and Paper Theatre.
