Timeraiser, organized by the Framework Foundation

Timeraiser Trades Art for Volunteerism

As a local artist and hopeful philanthropist, I've found there are a long list of charities looking for donations of time and artwork from those willing to help support a good cause.

Timeraiser, organized by the Framework Foundation, is changing things up though, by supporting the cause and the artist (a worthy cause it itself) at the same time.

The event, hosted by Avi Lewis, tomorrow (April 28) at the Berkeley Church, is not looking to raise money, so much as to raise hours. Your time is your currency at this auction as bidders are asked to bid volunteer hours in exchange for hand-picked and purchased art pieces.

How it works: Framwork puts out a call for art submissions, and then select pieces are chosen and purchased directly from the artists. At the Timeraiser event, those art pieces are auctioned off for volunteer hours to be performed at various charitable agencies.

Simple and genius.

If you're interested in getting more involved in your community and receiving some wonderful artwork in exchange, this is the place to be.
