As purveyor of slam poetry news, I must apologize for being negligent and not letting you all know about tonight's special "Anything Goes" slam going down at the El Mocambo. Hosted by the always-amazing Dave "Big Deal" Silverberg, this month's Toronto Poetry Slam is no holds barred: bring out the props, the music, the guests, the covers. As long as you don't go over the three minute time limit, the stage is yours to grace and the audience is yours to impress.

I've been working on a few new pieces myself (which is probably why I forgot to post about the slam) so do come out tonight and have some fun. I'll definitely appreciate it, as will many other spoken word artists in the city who are competing for the final spots in the June slam semi-finals, which will decide who will be part of Toronto's slam team for the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word this year.

Why: Because I'll be there, because Electric Jon is crazy, because Dave Silverberg's so cute, because everyone loves Amanda Hiebert, and because this is one slam that's guaranteed to bring the house down.
