Disappearance of Darkness

Photo Contest: Between Memory and History

CONTACT is officially on, and to make the festival this year just a little more interesting, we've partnered with HP Canada on a month long photo contest. It's super-easy to enter and we'll be awarding some killer HP prizes to two lucky winners.

Keep reading for contest details including the theme, prizes and details how to participate.

Theme - In keeping with this year's 2008 CONTACT Photography Festival, the theme of the contest is Between Memory and History. Feel free to interpret as you like but if you need some help here's what CONTACT has to say about it.

Key Dates - The contest starts now and closes at 11:59PM Toronto time on May 25th, 2008.

Grand Prize - The grand prize winner will receive an HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer, HP 38 Pigment Ink Cartridges with HP Vivera 38 Pigment Inks and HP Premium Plus 13x19 Photo Paper. This package is valued at over $650.

Runner Up Prize - The runner-up will receive an HP Photosmart D7460 Photo Printer along with HP 02 Ink Cartridges with HP 02 Series Vivera Inks and HP Advanced Photo Paper. This prize package is valued at approximately $230.

How to participate

1. It's easy. Anytime between now and May 25th, 2008 submit up to 10 photos to the blogTO Flickr Group that you think best represents the contest theme. If you're not already a member of Flickr or our Flickr Group, you can sign up for a free account here and join the group here.

2. When you submit your photos, be sure to tag them with the following: blogtocontact2008. This will allow us to differentiate contest submissions from the rest of the photos in our Flickr pool.

3. Once the contest entry deadline has past, a team of blogTO editors and staff will review all tagged submissions and choose two photos (one grand prize and one runner-up) that we believe best represents the theme of the contest.

Other Rules and Regulations

Please note that digital and analog photography methods as well as any Photoshop or darkroom techniques are permitted. The contest is open to Ontario residents only.
