Be a Part of Nuit Blanche: NB Post

My favorite events at Nuit Blanche each year are the interactive exhibits, and while Nuit Blanche 2008 is still weeks away, it's not too early to be a part of the evening.

NB Post, an exhibit at this years festival, is currently asking for donated 4x6 photographs to make postcards. All photos are welcome; photos of pets, vacations, birthday parties, ex-girlfriends... whatever. Each photo will be glued to a piece of card stock to make 5000 hand-made and unique postcards. Drop off your photos at Tequila Bookworm or mail them to a P.O. Box.

The interaction doesn't stop there.

On the night of Nuit Blanche (October 4th this year), NB Post will have a full service post office set up where visitors can select one of the unique post cards, write a message, and put it into a post box.

All the postcards will all be pre-stamped and addressed to "YOU" in Zone A.

Finally, a team of 48 postal workers, selected for their "frenetic energy, quick wit and zany shinanigans," will deliver the postcards to unsuspecting visitors in Zone A by proudly announcing the arrival of the mail: "You Sir...yes, you! There's mail here for you!" "Young lady, here's your mail! Let me check the address...oh yes, Zone A...it's addressed to you."

This may be the most interactive exhibit possible. For each postcard there are three participants, the person who donated the photo, the one who wrote the message, and the receiver. That doesn't' even include the postal carrier!

In case you are interested, the exhibit is still auditioning postal workers, aka, "a team of 48 energetic improv actors." Check out their web page to see how to audition.
