AGO offers free admission via text messaging

AGO TXT MSG = ADMIT 1

AGO Mobile is offering free admission to the new Art Gallery of Ontario today.

All you've got to do is text WHOA to AGOAGO (246246) from your cellular phone, join AGO Mobile and sign up for their mobile alerts.

After doing so, I got a message that says "Welcome to AGO Mobile bi-wkly msgs. Rply w JOIN to confirm. Admit 1: AG12330 valid to 1/18/09. Redeem @ box office. Opt-out: STOP." After replying with JOIN, I get a text message saying "Welcome to AGO Mobile bi-wkly msgs. Stay tuned for more info, special offers and artfacts. Text STOP to Opt-out."

Thanks, AGO. This almost makes up for charging $18 regular adult admission price, which even Frank Gehry called "highway robbery."

This offer is only good for a limited time, so I'd jump on that opportunity if I were you.

While you're at it, text HOLIDAY to AGOAGO and you could also win dinner for two at AGO's restaurant FRANK, as well as a $100 gift certificate to shop AGO.

The small print, as listed on their contest website gives all the details:

"Standard carrier charges apply. Tickets are limited, subject to availability and valid until January 18, 2009. Must be redeemed by showing your special mobile code at the AGO box office. Non transferable. One Free admission per person per mobile. Ontario residents only. Please note this offer does not apply to pre-formed adult, tour or school groups. It is an offer to be redeemed on a individual basis only."
