Birch Bark Hydro pole Toronto

Street art everyone can love?

Located on MCaul St. near OCADU is one clever little artistic intervention -- a birch bark hydro pole. Well, it's not actually birch bark, but sheets of paper that are made to look pretty damn similar. And, as Scott Snider (the photographer) notes, "the really brilliant part is that as it starts to peel the sheets hang off like the real thing."

I'm not sure what type of life span a piece like this will enjoy -- I fear it'll be rather short -- but this is the type of street art that I would imagine most people can get on board with. While likely not authorized, it doesn't really damage anything and might just put a smile on the faces of those passing by. To echo the sentiments expressed by a Flickr commenter, it'd actually be cool if all the hydro/telephone poles were decked out this way (assuming some sort of durability could be achieved).
