Earlier today, the Federal Court of Appeal announced that it will not hear the appeal of CKLN Radio 88.1FM, the Ryerson-based (if not affiliated) radio station whose broadcasting license was revoked back in late January for failure to operate in a compliant manner with CRTC regulations. A post on the station's website indicates that "station management plans to continue as broadcasters for the Ryerson campus and the surrounding community" and notes that "it's not in contravention of the Broadcasting Act to broadcast via the internet."

How exactly all of this will play out has obviously yet to become clear, though another public statement regarding the station's status is promised for Wednesday. What we do know is that CKLN has to cease on-air operations immediately. "The court has given CKLN Radio 88.1FM no time to bid farewell on-air, we must cease broadcasting. The stay of the original revocation decision had allowed CKLN to continue to broadcast until the Federal Court of Appeal denied CKLN's appeal."

Despite the bad news, Chair of the Board of Directors Ron Nelson remained upbeat. "We aren't even close to being out of the picture yet," he said. "There are options. And when there's a will and community support, there's a way."
