The SickthSense brought a host of artists and designers to the Foundery last Friday for an event that doubled up as the launch of their 2012 clothing line and a showcase of local creative talent. Although there wasn't any one organizing theme, that was all for the better as works in a variety of media and styles didn't have to accomplish anything over and above the general engagement and stimulation of those in attendance. Toward that end, Eugene Paulnil's cardboard Chuck Taylor sculptures proved quite the draw. Not only are they are surprisingly faithful reproduction, but the building material itself gestures to the cookie-cutter and cheap underpinnings of what has become a North American fashion icon.

Also noteworthy were the photographic works by Craig Boyko and the wonderfully detailed illustration courtesy of artist Mike Parsons, which had people dwelling beside it in the hopes of tracking all the narrative threads contained in what is ostensibly just one image. Oh, and the clothing. The line-up looks pretty slick, actually.
