Nuit Blanche Festival

Nuit Blanche Festival coverage 2012

The Nuit Blanche Festival is about to get underway for 2012, so in anticipation of the setting sun, I thought I'd gather together all the pre-coverage we've done this year, so it's easy to find when you're out wandering the city looking at art (and sometimes thinking of food). We'll be active on Twitter throughout the night, so stayed tuned for updates, photos, and sleep-deprived observations.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR COVERAGE

We'll be all over the city tonight, but we'd love to make your experiences a part of our coverage as well. Here are a couple of ways that you can participate:

Instagram

Lately we've been really active on Instagram, and we plan on keeping up the trend throughout Nuit Blanche, so follow us on Instagram for updates about which exhibits are worth hitting up and which you can skip. We'd love to feature your stuff, too! If you'd like your photos shared by us and considered for inclusion in a post-event roundup, please add the hashtag #blogTO (along with #snbTO or whatever tag you're using for the event itself) so we can easily find them.

Flickr

If you're out shooting with your DSLR during Nuit Blanche, please consider adding your photos to the blogTO Flickr pool. Our photo roundup on Sunday afternoon is always an extremely popular post, so lots of eyes will be on your work (obviously we credit all photos to their source).

TRANSPORTATION INFO

The subway system will be up and running until 7 a.m. in the central portion of Toronto — e.g. Between Keele and Woodbine stations on the Bloor-Danforth line and on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway between St. Clair West and Eglinton stations. Outside of this area, you're looking at the Blue Night Bus as far as TTC vehicles go. The good news is it's not going to be as cold as last year, so cycling is definitely an option. Pick a safe place to lock it up, and then explore each zone on foot.

OFFICIAL SITE

Just in case you want to jump over to the official site from this post, here's the link you need. This year there's no dedicated app, but so far the mobile site has been working well. Let's hope it stays that way throughout the night and morning.

UNSOLICITED ADVICE

Nuit Blanche is best enjoyed when you don't take it too seriously as a high-art event. And when you're decisive about skipping exhibits with long line-ups. Stay safe and enjoy tonight, guys!
