84 Nassau Street replaces I Deal Coffee's Kensington Market location which closed back in 2021.

While coffee remains a staple of the menu, the drinks almost take a back seat to the new star of the show: a scrumptious selection of artisanal baked goods, made entirely in-house.

Stocking a highly-Instagrammable display of croissants and danishes right at the front counter, the aroma of fresh buttery goodness hits you as soon as you walk into 84 Nassau.

Their fluffy almond croissants ($6) and blueberry danishes ($4.50) can give you the late morning sugar rush you need to make it to your lunch break, but those who like to start their day with something on the saltier side won’t be disappointed, either.

One of the more unique menu items that has all the makings of an instant classic is the everything croissant, which also happens to be one of the more affordable pastries, priced at $3.80.

Dressed like an everything bagel, the house-made dough shines with the savory treatment, making it a snack you won’t want to miss.

The bakery cafe is simple in its design and laid out in a way that gives you a chance to see firsthand what goes on behind the scenes.

While many cafes and bakeries keep the actual baking process hidden, 84 Nassau's owners felt it was important to go for a more open-concept approach that would allow them to interact with customers and invite observation.

Officially opened in September of 2022 by business partners Sean Cristobal, Anthony Phoumivong, Michael Munro, and Gerald Villamil, 84 Nassau is the result of four like-minded friends coming together to carve their own path.

After years spent working together in a bakery in North York, the decision to start something new required the four of them to take a risk and have faith in the process.

Prior to opening the bakery cafe, they operated their business out of a rented basement kitchen in North York.

Working the flea market circuit, the team would drive their truckload of treats around town and selling them from a pop-up stand (which was really just a 6-foot table with a sign).

Now, with four walls and a shaded terrace out front, the group looks back on those days fondly, recalling how they fell in love with Kensington, a setting where their pop-up had some of its friendliest and most successful outings.

Naturally, when they heard about the vacancy at 84 Nassau, the group was certain that this was not an opportunity to miss and took the chance to turn their pop-up into a permanent fixture within the community.

Te 84 Nassau team couldn't be happier with their location and their community, and hope to see new faces from across the city pop in to give their goods a try.

Open from 8:oo to 4:00 on weekdays (with the exception of Monday, when they close at noon) and 9:00 to 4:00 on weekends, 84 Nassau Street is an ideal spot for early risers and baked good lovers alike.
