Reading: Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine
Naomi Klein, award-winning bestselling author of No Logo, will be reading from her new book The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism Thursday night at the MacMilan Theatre.
Klein's new book once again attacks big-business and capitalism. She investigates how corporations often use disasters, natural or manmade, to implement profit-making predatory capitalist policies that exploit the vulnerable. Read reviews of Shock Doctrine here.
Along with the book, Klein has a short film (7 minutes long) at this years TIFF with the same name. The Shock Doctrine is co-directed with Y Tu Mama Tambien and Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron.
