Spacing Issue Chronicles the People of Toronto

Spacing magazine launched a new issue dubbed "The People Issue" this week, which showcases many Torontonians doing extraordinary things.

One of the people in Toronto to show up to the party on Tuesday at the Canadian Corps legion hall was Olivia Chow, NDP MP for Trinity-Spadina (pictured above right with Spacing publisher Matthew Blackett and Laura Boudreau).

The magazine is chock full of great photos and stories of people who are shaping our city.

Inside the 64-page issue you'll discover a story about a guy who ensures turtle eggs hatch each year along the banks of the Humber River. There's a profile of Sunjye, the friendly neighbourhood rock balancing artist. And there's a cute piece about Alice, the backyard chicken farmer.

You'll also find an inside look at what it's like to be a paramedic in Toronto. And there's a 10-day diary about a local artist who explored Toronto's rivers by canoe.

Not to be missed is Miles Storey's Faces & Places which is a selection of street portraits of random Torontonians.

At the launch party, local blogger Rannie Turingan (pictured above) captured people in attendance in a make-shift photo booth, the results of which can be viewed in this flickr set.
