Festival of Lights: Tonite!

It seems like I always find out about crazy fun things to do at the last minute. Already booked to watch the highly anticipated King Kong remake tonite, I will not be able to make it to one of this year's Winter Solstice celebrations - the Kensington Market Festival of Lights. However, maybe you can...

Musicians, giant puppets, firebreathers, drummers, choirs, and stilt walkers will celebrate the solstice with a carnival like parade through the streets of Kensington Market tonite that will culminate at Bellevue Square Park for a finale of sorts (bonfire included!) The 30-member Samba Squad will be on sight to show off their mad percussion skills!

As you may or may not know, tonight will be the longest, darkest night of the year - hence, the winter solstice. The parade will start at the corner of Augusta and Oxford, just south of College, between Spadina and Bathurst, at 6pm - Wednesday, December 21st. Participants are encouraged to dress warm and bring along a lantern and/or percussion instrument.

Check out last year's flyer here.
