eBay University Coming to Toronto

It seems that everyone has either sold or bought something off eBay, or least knows about the online auction site.

The company started over a decade ago and now you hear "Daydream Believer" as the soundtrack to all their commercials.

So it makes sense that eBay has a university session coming to Toronto next weekend. Think of it as "Hamburger University" that trains all McDonald's lackies. At eBay Unversity, you'll learn "proven selling strategies that you can start using right away to start making some extra cash, or even your open own business on eBay." The class is taught by employees of the Web site.

So these guys are asking for a tuition fee of for US$59 (approximately $68) to teach basic selling techniques , how to create listings and how to accept online payments with PayPal.

$59 US! To upload photos and to write "effective descriptions?" Man, they are really targeting the compu-illiterate.

eBay University: Sat., Mar. 4 at the Hilton Toronto Airport, 5875 Airport Rd., Mississauga, Ont. Event runs from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
