It's still great value, but could and should be more so

Is This What You Call Fare?

A month and a half ago, due to a $20 million budget shortfall, the TTC decided to raise its fares by 25 cents per cash ride. In last week's budget, the Liberals gave Toronto $200 million over the next two years for the TTC.

Despite $100 million being noticably greater than $20 million, the fare hike will go through - you'll be paying the extra cash as of tomorrow. Despite the official plan calling for lower fares. Despite the effect that increased fares will have on transit ridership. And one wonders why people are annoyed with the TTC, even as they love it.

The least they could have done - if they insist on keeping the hike - would have been to get rid of the ads.
