Redpath Sugar Museum

I had never heard of it until today but apparently more than 10,000 visitors tour the Redpath sugar museum every year. Located at the hard-to-miss Redpath sugar refinery on Queens Quay near Jarvis, the musum features a visual and written history of Repath Sugars, the history and how-to of sugar cultivation and production and the requisite display of how Redpath sugar packaging has evolved over the years.

The museum is free and located at the back of the refinery next to the parking lot with all the big rigs. It was empty (save for a knowledgable and friendly guide) when I stopped by, but apparently it does a brisk business with school field trips.

How packing has changed over the years. Apparently, they don't make sugar cubes anymore. Not economical. Everyone prefers their sugar in packets.

More sugar!
