Bloodshed in our Streets
Don't have to go around the world, no,
Don't have to go to USA,
Don't have to go the Middle East, no,
There's bloodshed in our streets.
(Lyrics by Jesse David, appearing in YouTube video released by Toronto Police and Crimestoppers)
In the summer of 2006, Omar Wellington was murdered in Flemington Park, and the killer was never apprehended.
Crimestoppers has assembled information, images, and sketches (along with the song of a Toronto musician) and published a YouTube video in hopes that the public will be able to provide more info.
Is YouTube an effective way to seek out help from the public on unsolved crimes?
How many Torontonians actually see these videos?
Were the politically oriented lyrics added to attract media attention, YouTuber's, or both?
