Your morning news roundup for Tuesday April 24th, 2007:

The Yonge subway line is running again this morning, following yesterday's fatal tunnel accident. Hopefully the frustration that seemed to overshadow the empathy is soon forgotten, and the man who died not.

A brief but really wild storm rocked the city at around 5pm yesterday. Torrential downpours, and strong winds knocked out power and disrupted traffic signals in areas around the GTA.

City council passed the operating budget, which includes a property tax hike for home owners. All 45 money-saving motions proposed by councillor Rob Ford were defeated, so city staff will continue to get free passes to the zoo and enjoy free golfing.

If the city can sue the province for not including them in their budget, can we then sue the city for not including us in theirs? I want my free passes to the zoo too.

The city water infrastructure is aging and pipes continue to burst. Officials worry that we'll see more problems like the latest Lakeshore water main break if pipes aren't fixed.

Today's Crossroad Puzzle after the jump...
