Toronto's 20-Minute Tidy

Anyone who ever happened to catch an episode of the Big Comfy Couch remembers the all-important 10 second tidy that finished up each playtime. This was obviously intended to engrain the idea that playtime is all well and good but without taking responsibility for your toys, you'll soon end up with an unpleasant mess.

Well, sometimes you find yourself in the right (wrong) place at the right (wrong) time and Toronto doesn't look like anything but an unpleasant mess. Sure, those street sweepers do an okay job, riding around the late-night streets on their big vacuums, but that really can't make up for all the effort the rest of us put into making a mess of the city the entire rest of the time.

Wish there was something you could do about it? Enter the City's 20-Minute Makeover, scheduled for this Friday (April 20th) at 2 p.m.

The city will provide you with a garbage bag and a single glove, which you need to pick up from a Pizza Pizza, Tim Horton's or McDonald's in the 416, and if you're taking part as an individual all you have to do with your collected rubbish is dispose of it during a normal garbage pick up (normal limits apply).

However, any groups are asked to register so the city can arrange for pickup, and group/school registration is closing today... so anyone who wants to get a crew together or any high school students in either the TDSB or Catholic board should talk to their principal right quick and then get on the phone to either of these two registration numbers:

416-392-7899 (Toronto, York, East York, Etobicoke)
416-392-7913 (Scarborough, North York)

Happy trashin', and if anyone catches any irresponsible 4/20 stoners dumping their pizza boxes, coffee cups or fry containers later in the day, make sure they pick it up!
