Your morning news roundup for Thursday, March 6th, 2008:

Think gas prices are high right now? Well, if the analysts are right, you might want to start stocking up on the gas tanks. It looks like prices in Canada could rise to about $1.40 a litre in a few months.

In more car-related news, a truck and a bus got in an accident on the 401 yesterday, slowing traffic for several hours. While there were several senior citizens and children on the bus, luckily no major injuries were reported.
News story.

In a story that's close to my heart (no pun intended) because of a long-standing family history of heart disease, Toronto EMS staff will be getting new electrocardiogram monitors in order to better diagnose heart attacks before patients are taken to the hospital. Sure, they may cost a bit, but if they really can reduce mortality rates by 10 per cent, I consider the investment a good one.

If only all downtown property prices were this cheap. Looks like McDonald's got a deal.

The Toronto Grand Prix has officially been canceled, which means we're all going to miss the smell of burning rubber and the noise of oversized engines coming from the Lake Shore Straightaway this summer. I wonder how much this is going to hurt our tourism industry.

While many of you were out shoveling snow today, Jeff Green and others were out on Lake Ontario surfing. For real. Now that requires some serious cojones.
