I find it totally weird that two businesses here in Toronto (on the Danforth) are fighting over naming rights involving Obama. Is it lame that the second shop used Obama in its name, when the first already had? Or is it lame that the first shop owner used Obama in the first place?

The May long weekend will mark the long-awaited launch of the much maligned Toronto alternative street food pilot project. Eight people patient/crazy/motivated enough to take on all the costs and red tape will be given their chance to feed us exciting menu items that make hot dogs look boring. A full list of menu items and locations is now available.

If a city councilor has a headache, should you and I pay for his Advil? Rob Ford thinks not, and he's pretty steaming about the amounts and types of expenses claimed by councilors on our dime.

It seems that there are some very grey areas when it comes to nationalism and terrorism and humanitarianism and protest. After Monday's massive, peaceful, downtown protest that centered on the grave situation over in Sri Lanka, the Toronto police are now probing whether or not some of the flags waved by protesters violate Canadian anti-terrorism laws. Can you say "can of worms"?

Major kudos and a million high fives go out to CityNews veteran Mark Dailey, who is celebrating 30 years with the news organization. That's one serious milestone! (And here I was thinking that coming up on my 1000th blogTO post was a big deal!)

As taxpayers, do we deserve better road conditions? So many people are experiencing chipped windshields along a stretch of the 401 dubbed "asteroid alley" that legal action may result.
