Spring Hits Toronto Early: Down by the Water

Although spring doesn't officially arrive until March 20th, it sure felt like it was here this weekend. It may have snowed briefly on Friday, but yesterday was all about sun. I seized the opportunity to take one of my favorite walks - down by Toronto's Harbourfront.

After bean-juicing it up at my favorite coffee spot (perhaps not the best coffee, but the best locale), I headed off down the docks. It seemed that everyone was in a better, more talkative mood due to the pleasant weather...

A friend had told me about some awesome machinery afoot on the 'under construction' portion of the older wharfs...

I miss the time when Soulpepper had its two stages in these parts, so I don't find myself down here too often; some of the docks near were still shut-off to the common meandering so-and-so, but the view was still lovely...

I had a nice chat with a young man near the island-boat-tour concessions, who had come down from an adjacent condo to bring the local 'wildlife' some food...

Farther west is the odd, yet still lovely yellow-umbrella clad HTO waterfront park. Although most of the surfaces have skateboarding-proof

Adjacent are various pleasure-craft, just aching for the upcoming season...

It was a lovely day, but given the recent bipolar nature of Toronto weather-patterns, I can only hope that we have more like it in store; "you must spend your days; you cannot take them with you" (Annie Dillard).
