Toronto's Dumbest Criminals isn't a TV show, but if it were, we'd see a segment that depicts a man trying to break into the Greek social club in the Bloor & Ossington area, by entering a basement window too small to fit through. The accused would-be thief was stuck for hours before being discovered in the morning. Maybe there's video footage to sell to Fox TV.

While the number of transit riders in Toronto is reaching record highs, Federal Transport Minister John Baird has a message for Toronto and our failing quest for federal funding for new streetcars. Apparently we should "fuck off". It's embarrassing. Remember Baird at the Bali conference on climate change? Enough said.

Mississauga, on the other hand, is seeing a significant (6%) drop in transit users in just 4 months, which is forcing the city to rethink its ambitious transit expansion plans. The recession is partially to blame, with some industrial bus routes seeing 25% decreases in ridership. It's amazing how fast things can change.

Whether you love or hate the 27km of underground tunnels that make up the PATH pedestrian system, one thing is certain - it has the potential to expand quite a bit. And as condo development and commuter traffic continue to grow in this city, it makes sense to connect new buildings to the system.
