Bike stencils spotted at the site of recent fatality
Along with the makeshift memorial that's been set up at the entrance to the West Toronto Railpath near Dundas and Sterling for fallen cyclist Jenna Morrison, there have now appeared three large bike stencils on the corner where she was struck and killed. Spotted by Martin Reis â as these things often are â we've yet to find out who's responsible for this memorial street art.
A quiet intervention, the stencils appear more about commemoration than just an opportune cry for more bike lanes. These, after all, are merely bike icons that have been painted on the street. No line to denote an unofficial bike lane has been painted, nor are have arrows been painted to denote sharrows. It's touching little tribute, and should make the events of last Monday even more difficult to forget.
