TTC Sex Twitter

Twitter reaction to the now infamous TTC hump session

Well, that got some mileage. News that a couple had been charged for full-out humping on the TTC on the weekend sent Twitter a flutter throughout much of the evening yesterday as folks doled out the (mostly) bad jokes and expressed their horror at this latest assault on station cleanliness. At one point or another both #RideTheRocket and "humping" were trending topics in the Toronto area, the former of which was cause for its own brand of humour as a number of under-informed tweeters took it upon themselves to explain to others that such a hashtag wasn't in fact dirty at all — it was just a reference to Toronto's new subway cars.

Truth be told, those tweets might have been the most humorous of the bunch. Once "ride the rocket" takes on one meaning, it's hard not to look at tweets using the expression in a more earnest sense without cracking a smile. As for the rest of the fallout from yesterday's news, there's no shortage of TTC-type slogans to twist into sexual innuendo. Even Commission Chair Karen Stintz got in on the fun, saying "there is a better way, and in that case, it's not on the subway."
