House of the week: 24 Old Forest Hill Road
Here's a post-Thanksgiving treat (giblet?): a house so expensive that almost no one will be able to afford it, unless you're Ted Rogers or Nelly Furtado (both of whom have owned on this street) or Barrick Gold chairman and founder Peter Munk, the owner of this place. 24 Old Forest Hill Road is nuts. The house only has 5 bedrooms, which might sound a little paltry in light of the list price of $18 million. But then consider that this house was previously listed in 2012 for $25 million. Who doesn't like to save money, right?
The stately stone structure has great curb appeal and sits on one of the biggest and deepest lots in the neighbourhood. It would make an excellent home for any parents hoping to raise famous kids--just get an eyeful of that full-sized tennis court (make your kid the next Raonic!), the indoor pool (the next Phelps!) and the "artist's studio" (the next, uh...Furtado). Really, this house is an investment in your family's legacy.
Although the giant outdoor fountain, life-sized statues and massive four-poster beds are a little over the top, the house feels modern and surprisingly livable. You really can't go wrong with an ivy-covered mansion on one of the city's most moneyed streets. Go for it!

NOTABLE FEATURES
GOOD FOR
Rich Uncle Pennybags. Richie Rich. Or someone who has always dreamed of living inside Casa Loma, minus the daily tours and weird court jesters. This is the next best thing on the market right now.
MOVE ON IF
You like turrets â this mansion is seriously lacking in turrets.
