Texts to Rob Ford

New website wants Toronto to text bomb Rob Ford

In the wake of recent developments in the ever more damning Rob Ford scandal a blog called Texts to Rob Ford has sprung up on Tumblr, and the name pretty much sums up what's going on here. Text Rob Ford, post a screencap, and submit it to textstorobford.tumblr.com. The intention, of course, is to "text bomb" the Mayor with anything from demands for his resignation, expressions of worry about his well being, or more gravy train cracks.

Texts to Rob Ford was bound to happen. Rob Ford's number has been public domain for a long time now (he once eloquently asked women to call him so he could explain politics to them.) I may or may not be acquainted with someone who posted Ford's number in a Kijiji add offering free Justin Bieber tickets earlier this summer (sorry, Beliebers,) and apparently if you call him and leave a voicemail, someone from his office will call back, but it typically won't be Ford himself. It remains to be seen if Ford has hit reply to any of these messages.

From the blog:

"Rob Ford LOVES talking on the phone. It's his favourite thing to do, so much so that he often advertises his personal numbers online. You can contact him at 416-397-FORD (3673) or direct on his cell at (416) 805-2146. Of course there is that other random number he might call you back from at (647) 391-1452. Now is the time for Toronto to text Rob Ford. Submit screenshots of your texts through this Tumblr for them to be shared with the world!"

Play nice, Toronto.
