Upcoming events supporting Syrian refugees in Toronto

Over the next few months, thousands of Syrian refugees will land in Toronto. In an effort to help make their transition as seamless as possible, organizations like Lifeline Syria have been fundraising up a storm, but they're not alone. Help show your support by heading to one of these events and/or donating to the cause.

Here are a few ways to show your support for Syrian refugees in Toronto.

C!C!C! Sings For Syria (December 8)
Choir! Choir! Choir! is sponsoring a family of refugees from Syria and is hosting an epic event at Lee's Palace to raise funds. The group has already donated $10,000, but has a goal of raising $30,000 so that the family can safely make it overseas. The event will bring C!C!C! and Reuben Bollock (from Reuben And The Dark) to the stage for a special performance of John Lennon's Imagine.

Embrace Syria Fundraising Dinner (December 9)
The Muslim Association of Canada's Embrace Syria campaign is hosting a fundraising dinner at the Ramanda Hotel on December 9th. The menu is TBA, but single adult tickets are $65, with proceeds going toward refugees in need.

Light Up the Night (December 10)
Join 5Rhythms Toronto at The Citadel on December 10th to benefit Lifeline Syria and a new Toronto workshop scholarship fund. You'll get the chance to dance to your heart's content and win raffle prizes like Yoga Sanctuary class passes, osteopathy treatments, Dean Salon hair cuts and more.

3rd Annual Creative Minds Collective (December 11)
Head to The Tennessee for an evening of music, art, spoken word, and shopping. The lineup includes Shannon Roszell, When We Was Young, and Darryl Webster. There's no cover, but all donations made at the event will go toward Lifeline Syria.

Songs For Syria: A Holiday Benefit Show (December 17)
The Silver Dollar Room will bring local talent to the stage for a show benefitting Lifeline Syria (100% of the night's proceeds will be donated). The night's lineup features Ice Cream, DOOMSQUAD, Prince Innocence and many more.

Refugees Welcome Party! #RefugeesWelcomeTO (TBA)
Want to be part of the biggest welcoming party in town? With over a thousand people currently slated to attend (that's in Facebook terms though), this event will give Syrian refugees the warm-hearted welcome they deserve. When a formal date for the first refugees arrival has been set, this party will go down at Pearson International.
