Toronto's about to get its very own Christmas gift! The first Eglinton Crosstown LRT test vehicle is making its way down to Bombardier's plant in Millhaven from snowy Thunder Bay.

As CBC News reports, the city was supposed to get this test vehicle from Bombardier about two years ago.

The delivery is coming just weeks after Metrolinx put Bombardier on notice after planning to cancel a $770 million contract to build 182 light rail vehicles. This, however, might not happen.

The LRV that's on its way to Millhaven, which is near Kingston, is the first prototype Bombardier's sending over. The city should be getting 182 LRVs by 2018 and as CBC notes, they should be in service by 2021.

Update: A previous version of this post said the LRV was headed to Toronto from Thunder Bay when the LRV is actually on its way to Millhaven. blogTO regrets this error.
