The TTC shows off new subway route map
In a couple of weeks, Toronto will be reminded on a daily basis about the coming additions to the TTC subway system. With Downsview Station set to be renamed Sheppard West on May 7, some 3,000-plus new route maps will be installed in subway trains.
Along with the name change, these snazzy new maps will plot out the future stations on the Spadina Extension, the most significant upgrade to Toronto's subway system since the Sheppard Line opened in 2002.
By adding Downsview Park and the rest of the new stations to the map with an "opening December 2017" tag, we'll all be able to get accustomed to Line 1's new configuration in advance of its opening.
In case you're wondering, the TTC was indeed forward-thinking enough to design the map areas on the Toronto Rocket with the light bulbs installed for the coming Spadina Extension when they went into service back in 2010.
Look for the new line to be lit up come the end of the year. Meanwhile, new signage and maps will start popping up across the subway system in the weeks to come.
