Protest in Oakville over teacher with prosthetic breasts had school worried about safety

Tensions surrounding one controversial Oakville high school teacher are reaching a boiling point, and the school prepared additional security measures to ensure student and staff safety.

The viral drama involves one Oakville educator who is transgender, and gained international attention after wearing a massive prosthetic breast piece to school.

Multiple students uploaded images of her to Snapchat, leading to lots of uproar in the local community regarding the school's dress code and the teacher's gender identity.

In an email sent to Oakville Trafalgar High School families, principal Meredith Cammisuli said the school was made aware of a protest planned for ealier today.

"We continue to work closely with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) and have prepared safety measures to help ensure student and staff safety."

The email went on to state that police and additional staff members would be on scene to ensure the safety of both students and faculty.

The statement also reiterated the democratic right of any student to participate in the protest.

"Should students choose to participate in the protest, police will be in the area to ensure students are behaving and protesting responsibly and safely," the email read.

The letter also stated that exterior doors of the school remain locked, as the site continues to receive significant exposure and attention.
