The funeral and procession for fallen Toronto Police Constable Andrew Hong has been announced and the lengthy display of mourning will see seem some streets and highways closed in the earlier hours of the day.

The Toronto Police Service have confirmed that a private service will take place at the Toronto Congress Centre (TCC) at 12 p.m. on Martin Grove Road.

That means the procession will travel from the Kane-Jarret Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge Street to TCC.

Officers will begin marching from Canal Sports southbound on Martin Grove towards the TCC at around 9:45 a.m.

Members will be posted on both sides of Martin Grove, to honour the funeral cortege as it makes its way.

Once the procession arrives at the TCC, Chief of Police James Ramer will salute the cortege as it heads into the building, it will include Cst. Hong's motorcycle.

The planned route is to take Northbound Yonge Street to Westbound Highway 407 ETR, southbound Highway 27, eastbound Steeles Avenue and southbound to Martin Grove.

As a result, Martin Grove will have a full closure from Dixon Road to Belfield Road and Bethridge Boulevard at 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.

Belfield will also see a full closure at 7:30 a.m. from Highway 27 to Martin Grove and Kipling Avenue.

Highway 409 east and west ramps at Dixon Road will close at 6:30 a.m. while the Highway 401 westbound ramp at Dixon will close at 6:30 a.m. as well.

The public can view the procession as it travels across Highway 407 at the Bathurst, Dufferin, Keele, Jane, Weston, Pine Valley and Islington overpasses.

The 46 Martin Grove bus will be diverting as well. For northbound trips it will following Martin Grove Road, east Dixon, north Kipling, west Bethridge and north Martin Grove to the rest of the route.

For southbound trips the bus will follow south on Martin Grove, east Bethridge, south Kipling, west Dixon and south Martin Grove to continue.

Hong died over a week ago after he was fatally shot at a Mississauga Tim Hortons while participating in a training exercise.

His death kicked off a shooting spree across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and saw the death of two more people and the injuries of multiple. The person believed to be responsible for this rampage died following an interaction with Hamilton Police on the same day.

Peel Regional Police, who have led this investigation, believe 48-year-old Hong was targeted for being in his police uniform.

The 22-year veteran of the Toronto Police Service leaves behind his two children, wife and parents.
