Toronto Eaton Centre evacuated after fire rips through mall parking garage

Shoppers at the CF Toronto Eaton Centre were evacuated from the popular mall on Tuesday evening due to a multi-vehicle fire in the upper levels of a parking garage.

Videos show smoke pouring from the above-ground parking garage over Yonge Street, with fire and paramedic crews closing down the major thoroughfare below.

Toronto Fire Services tweeted just after 8 p.m., informing the public of "crews battling multi vehicle fire at Eaton Centre Parking garage. Police closing Yonge St. from Queen St. to Dundas St. Please avoid the area."

Three vehicles were scorched in the blaze on the garage's third level, though the fire was extinguished shortly after crews arrived on scene, and there are no reports of injuries.

One commenter tweeted a glimpse inside the fire-damaged parking garage, where black scorch marks, police tape, and pools of water that helped extinguish the blaze are visible.

The fire was localized within the partially-enclosed garage, and the mall itself is open as usual as of Wednesday morning.
