Two brand new parks have been on the horizon for Toronto for some time, and the City has just confirmed they're both on track to be completed in 2023. 

The City's recent investments aim to improve Toronto's central waterfront, with more than $160 million committed in the new 2023 budget for projects that are underway, near completion, or planned over the next five years. 

Several major waterfront park-related and repair projects are part of the long-term development plan for the area and include two new public spaces that could be ready as soon as this year. 

The first greenspace, called Love Park, has a $15 million total budget and is located at the southern foot of York Street and Queens Quay. 

Designed by Claude Cormier + Associés (now branded as CCxA) in collaboration with gh3*, the two-acre park is set to feature tree-lined sidewalks, and a picturesque central heart-shaped water feature which will be illuminated by a pink glowing heart.

The pond's edge will provide 165 metres of seating and will be finished in glass mosaic tiles in a range of red tones. 

There will also be an off-leash area at the northeast edge of the park along Harbour Street for your fur babies to enjoy.

Another space, called Leslie Lookout Park, is also set to be completed this year and will include a public beach, forested dunes, and provide 360-degree views of the Port Lands.

The two-acre site will be located on the Martin Goodman Trail at the entrance to Tommy Thompson Park. 

The centrepiece of the park will be a 1.9-acre open space that will connect the land to the waterfront, and will also include a viewing platform to soak in the city's skyline. 

Like Love Park, CCxA was contracted to design the new public space, becoming a favourite choice for Toronto landscape projects following successful designs in the city like Sugar Beach and Berczy Park.

Although no exact dates have been provided for the opening of either park, it's clear that Torontonians are closer than ever to finally getting to enjoy the new spaces.
