ttc subway closure weekend

The TTC is shutting down 7 subway stations this weekend

A stretch of the TTC subway will be shutting down for the entire weekend, the transit agency announcing that service on Line 1 between St Clair West and St Andrew stations will halt on Saturday, April 15 through Sunday, April, 16, 2023.

The TTC attributes the latest closure to track work, part of a rolling series of outages and single-track operation periods planned this spring.

Subway service along this stretch of Line 1's University-Spadina-York leg is to be replaced by dreaded replacement shuttle buses, words feared by every Toronto commuter after the years of weekly outages that were required to upgrade the TTC subway to automatic train control.

Though the stations will not be served by subway trains throughout the closure, customers can still enter to purchase or load Presto cards and connect to surface routes.

Regular subway service is scheduled to resume at approximately 6 a.m., Monday, April 17.
