Toronto's stunning heart-shaped park close to completion

Toronto residents have been anxiously waiting for a love-themed park in the Harbourfront area to open for a number of years, and it finally looks like the greenspace is nearing completion.

Love Park, which was formerly used as the York-Bay-Yonge eastbound off-ramp of the Gardiner Expressway is quickly taking shape at the southern foot of York Street and Queens Quay.

The two-acre park was designed by Claude Cormier + Associés (now known as CCxA) in collaboration with gh3* and features a dreamy central heart-shaped water feature.

The Instagram-worthy pond is set to be romantically illuminated by a pink glowing heart, and its edge will be finished with glass mosaic tiles in a vibrant range of ruby tones.

The park will also provide 165 metres of pond-side seating, tree-lined sidewalks, and dedicated park furniture that can be moved to suit your vantage point.

A recent image of the urban park shows many of its signature elements already installed, including a dedicated island in the middle of the pond that will be home to a mature Northern Catalpa tree

Adjacent office towers have the luxury of soaking in aerial views of the park's rosy pond, which has yet to be filled with water according to recent pictures.

Your four-legged friends can also enjoy the park in an off-leash area located at the northeast edge of the greenspace along Harbour Street.

Construction for the park began in July 2021 and it's slated for substantial completion in 2023. According to Waterfront Toronto's website, construction will wrap up anywhere from 2023 to 2024.
