Canada's new Christmas coin is the epitome of holiday cheer

Canada's brand-new coin features all the elements of a holiday must-have for every collector: a vintage red truck, a snowman and a Christmas tree.

Produced by precious metals company MKS PAMP, the Royal Canadian Mint's latest release is the perfect holiday gift for the coin collector in your life.

The $2 coin is shaped like a truck dusted with snow. Instead of a licence plate, it's adorned with candy canes, and behind the wheel is a snowman wearing a top hat and a scarf… because why not? In the back of the truck is a fully decorated Christmas tree.

"There is nothing more iconic of Christmas days past than a trip to the farm for a holiday tree!" reads the Mint's website. "A festive snowman bringing the tree home in a vintage little red truck completes this nostalgic scene on a pure silver 1 oz legal tender coin."

The silver coin measures 54.5 mm by 35.2 mm and weighs 31.9 g. The truck-shaped toonie is just one of the Crown corporation's latest holiday releases. Another recent addition is The Nutcracker-themed $2 coin shaped like the Sugar Plum Fairy.

This latest toonie comes with a unique ornament-style hangable custom capsule to make it easier to display. As for the obverse, it features a portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth.

It retails for $144.95 and has a limited mintage of only 3,000. It's packaged in a blue booklet with details about the coin, and each coin is individually serialized.
