Liquid soap sold at stores across Canada recalled due to contamination
A liquid soap brand sold at stores like Winners has been recalled in Canada due to microbial hazard.
Health Canada issued a recall notice for Castelbel Liquid Soap on Thursday over the possible presence of the microorganism called Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.
The agency says it poses little medical risk to healthy individuals, but people with certain health problems or compromised immune systems are at an increased risk of infection if they use the contaminated product.
As of November 7, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
The company reported that 2,224 of the liquid soaps were sold at nationwide Winners, Marshalls, and HomeSense between July and September 2024.
To find out if you have any of the affected Castelbel liquid soaps, check to see if it has the following batch numbers located on the product label:
"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Castelbel liquid soap and return it to a Winners, Marshalls, or HomeSense location for a refund," advised Health Canada.
For more information, you can contact TJX Canada, which owns the department stores, by telephone at 1-800-646-9466, Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, or by visiting the Winners, Marshalls or HomeSense websites.
