Toronto was just ranked among the most beautiful cities in the world

It can be hard to appreciate the place where you live and work day in and day out, but for any locals who may be taking Toronto for granted, the city just landed on new list of the most beautiful locales in the world — not from on the ground, but from the skies.

Though it may come as a bit of a surprise given all of the stunning landscapes and scenery offered abroad, the 6ix was named the 12th "most captivating city from the air," coming after such stunning locales as Prague, Amsterdam and Vienna in a ranking of 20.

Financial services firm Remitly created the list by showing people pictures of various metropolises from above, and using eye tracking software to determine which places held people's attention for the longest and made the best first impression.

As the firm says in a release about their findings, "your first view of the city you're visiting or moving to can set the tone for your new adventure. You start to build up an image of a destination pretty quickly before you’ve even put your bags down."

Though it noted that European hubs tend to be the most appealing upon aproach from above due to their ancient buildings andx "standout architecture," Toronto, alongside U.S. cities like Boston and Las Vegas, still prove to be extremely eye-catching.

We've also been named one of the most interesting, culture-rich and overall best cities on earth in other recent indexes, if you need further reason to love T.O.
