Forbes names tour of Toronto neighbourhood among best in the world
Renowned American business magazine Forbes has recently recognized a unique tour of one of Toronto’s most historic neighbourhoods, naming it among the top cultural and travel experiences worldwide.
The article, titled "10 Great City Tours for Travellers in 2025" highlights travel experiences around the world that offer the ideal introduction to new places with local insights, and cover a variety of subjects, including art, architecture, history, food, and drink.
Coming in at fourth place, Toronto's very own Bruce Bell Tours of the St. Lawrence neighbourhood was applauded for using engaging storytelling to cover the "fascinating history" of the area.
Bell, who is a former actor, journalist, and stand-up comic, has been running the tour for over 20 years, and has since been named the official historian of St. Lawrence Hall and St. Lawrence Market, the King Edward Hotel, and honorary historian of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
Bell has also been nominated four times for the prestigious Order of Ontario for his work as a historian and tour guide.
His signature 90-minute tour of Toronto's St. Lawrence Market describes its rich 200-year history while highlighting the 120 specialty vendors on site, known for their fresh fruit, meat, fish, grains, baked goods, and dairy products.
After the market, Bell takes guests through Old Town Toronto with stops at St. Lawrence Hall, King Edward Hotel, and various historical sites along the way.
"Bruce Bell conjures ghosts and resurrects historical buildings with his vivid storytelling," the Forbes article reads.
As noted on the Bell's website, reservations are an absolute must for the St. Lawrence Market tour, which runs from Tuesdays to Saturdays starting at 10 a.m.
