The cost of Costco memberships around the world compared to Canada in 2025

Costco Canada drew mixed reactions when it increased its membership fees in 2024, but how much do Canadians pay compared to shoppers worldwide?

According to the company's December 2024 sales report, published this month, the warehouse chain now operates 897 locations internationally and reported global net sales of $27.52 billion USD in December 2024.

As the retailer expands, we examined the membership cost in all 14 countries where Costco operates. We made a similar comparison in August 2024, but membership prices and the types and numbers of membership tiers have changed since.

Even though the Gold Star membership increased from $60 CAD to $65 CAD and the Executive membership went up from $120 CAD to $130 CAD in 2024, membership fees at Costco Canada are certainly not the priciest compared to other countries.

The most expensive Costco Executive membership is in the U.S. at $130 USD ($186.46 CAD) per year, while a Gold Star membership in Mexico costs 600 Mexican pesos ($41.98 CAD). However, the online shopping membership option for U.K. shoppers is even more affordable, at just £15 ($26.37 CAD) annually.
